7.7.1. Google Webmaster Tools, Google Analytics

For owner of the website there are a lot of tools to monitor developments on the site and adjust various parameters of monitoring to a greater or lesser extent. But this in itself is not enough to ensure an acceptable presence in the world of the Internet if they do not declare to the sites of various type like catalog (www.hr, T-com ...) directly on the viewfinder (Google, Yahoo, Bing ...) and offer a coupling to major institutions or better sites to exchange ads (banner). In this sense, can be defined by three sources to arrive at the site (Traffic Sources):

  • Direct traffic
  • Referring sites
  • Search engines

  • Creating map of files and folders at site (sitemap.xml file)
  • Defining rights of access for robots search (robots.txt file)
  • Set an image of the logo-site (favicon.ico file)
  • Rules to redirect and access rights to content (.htaccess file)

Little tiny self-promoters does not hurt. Name of .xml file is arbitrary (first.xml; second.xml ...). Folder in the example file describes seat and is sufficient if it is a seat that is independent and has no subdirectories or subdomains. According to the above example can be defined <url>...</url> enter address of a file located in a subdirectory, for example <loc>http://www.informatics.buzdo.com/file_name.htm</loc>. This index file indicates where to find sitemap.xml files; files of site or subdirectories or subdomains. No matter which way the use of search engines will read everything listed sitemap.xml file and display the result as a sum of their contents. Full coverage all of which may contain a 'sitemap.xml' file, can be found at http://www.sitemaps.org/, which is listed in the header of examples. New interface of 'Google Analytics' requires a new generation of Web browsers. How older versions of IE do not support all the new features should be used newer generation of browser, or IE extensions search engine site with 'Google Chrome Frame', a free plug-in for Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, 8 and 9 on Windows 7/Vista/XP SP2 or later versions.
