4.4.1. General features of OS

 Back Windows XP Next

When purchasing a computer user needs a future operating system of some kind, and if you are keen on some versions of the Windows operating system has the same pay and opportunities to register, because then eligible for free periodically update the operating system - the patch. For each operating system should satisfy some kind of minimum requirements to the computer to function correctly. So for Windows XP Professional says:

Processor: Pentium 233 MHz (300 MHz recommended)
Working memory: 64 MB (128 MB recommended)
Hard disk: 1.5 GB of available disk space
Optical Drive: CD or DVD-ROM drive
           Monitor: SVGA monitor
Graphics: PCI, AGP adapter with 4 MB of video RAM
                             Direct3D/OpenGL3D
           Peripherals: Keyboard, mouse

The recommendation further states that for the 'Office 2003 Professional' recommended increase working memory to 64 MB + 8 MB for each application running simultaneously and at least another 245 MB of disk space. Requirements grow if used say 'Visual Studio.NET 2003 Pro', and the minimum processor speed 450 MHz. The author of this alphabet to follow the rules: all recommended multiply by four and take a card that has an integrated hardware support for MPEG-2 video and read its own video memory of 64 MB. When you take into account the regular system upgrade or installation accessories program support, at least those most necessary, given the size of disk space is too small, should be at least 4-5 times more available disk space, approximately as indicated in Appendix ' i.) '. And what about the games? Now, if the computer is taken for this purpose, then apply the recommendations given in reviews journals that deal with these as invariably means the fastest processor, lots of RAM, the fastest graphics card with the most memory and video all with the prefix 'most'. And all that needs servicing good power, cooling and ventilation. Expensive, very expensive. Monitor is however a different story which is related exclusively to the eye health of users and the operating system itself does not have much in common. Keyboard everyone will choose the discretion; typist will require a 'soft', someone else is black, the third with the extra keys. Neither mice are not the same, optical sure: with a very fine-tuned for the one who is engaged in drawing. But not even the mouse does not have much in common with the operating system. A motherboard? Tests to look for the most stable of magazines, but as far as the games 'give money'.

Originally, Windows XP is 32 bit operating system, which means it can address up to 4 MB of RAM. If that would take away part of himself takes the system remains approximately 3.25 MB to 3.50 MB directly accessible and available memory address space. However, if the motherboard (chipset) supports more RAM, PAE option in the initial BOOT record may allow retrieval and use more than the specified limit. Course and software must be made to support the specified mode. Subsequently implemented 64 bit version of this operating system, based on server core, which can be addressed as much memory as the motherboard supports.

Upon power-up, power failure, replacement of hardware components or damage the driver can cause distortion of the compactness of the system. Then the system uses the setting that is shown by the following picture:

The 'Last Known Good Configuration' option is a recovery system that is used to start the computer by using the most recent settings that worked. The last valid settings are written to the system registry when successful login to the system. Registry is a database system that can record all actions and events, and is given in Chapter 4.4.5. So, these are the records that appeared last working state, while a possible protective copy of the old drivers is located in the [\WINDOWS\ system32\ ReinstallBackups\]. This procedure will not work if the files are corrupted for some reason. But if you follow the message that the file is corrupted, can serve 'Safe Mode' when you basically load only the necessary drivers. In safe mode they can learn when you restart your computer, and then pressed on the keyboard <F8>. Then it is possible to copy the disk, because the USB and other devices that need additional drivers do not work, copy the correct content that is desired. This mode is very useful to use if you want to delete a trojan or virus. In the last resort left to 'Safe Mode with Command Prompt', but then we should know the syntax of the command - DOS 6.22, Chapter 4.1. In 'Safe Mode' used VGA driver to display a resolution of 640480 pixels and 16 colors. If your computer is infected, and does not help the automatic cleaning and manual cleaning, remaining BartPE CD piece of work or remitting the correct partition from archived 'backup' partition images stored as files.
